Montevallo First UMC —
Where All Are Welcome, and Christ’s Love Connects Us.
Montevallo First United Methodist Church is a Christ-centered, welcoming community where all are invited to grow in faith, serve with compassion, and share God’s love. Rooted in Scripture and the Wesleyan tradition, we’re committed to worship, discipleship, and outreach that makes a real difference—both locally and globally. With open hearts, open minds, and open doors, we invite you to journey with us in faith and service.
What We Believe…
The United Methodist Church does not have one single, concise “statement of faith” like some denominations do. Instead, its core beliefs are expressed through The Articles of Religion, The Confession of Faith, The General Rules, and Wesleyan teachings. Together, these form the doctrinal foundation of the Church.
In summary, the United Methodist Church affirms:
Belief in the triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Salvation through Jesus Christ, offered freely to all by God’s grace.
The authority of Scripture, understood through tradition, reason, and experience.
The Church’s mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
The call to holy living, expressed through personal faith and social action.
Open communion, welcoming all who seek to follow Christ.

At Montevallo First United Methodist Church, there are many meaningful ways to grow in faith and serve alongside others. Congregants are invited to connect through Sunday School class and to share their musical gifts in the Choir. Those with a heart for outreach can support our community through Back-Pack-Buddies, providing food for local children in need, or join the Missions Team in hands-on service projects. Our Care and Contact Team and Prayer Paracletes offer compassionate support and prayer for members of our church family, while various Support Committees help guide the ministry and daily operations of the church. In addition, our Library Resources provide materials for spiritual growth, and groups such as the United Methodist Women (UMW) and United Methodist Men (UMM) offer fellowship, service, and discipleship opportunities. Together, these ministries provide a welcoming place for everyone to find their calling and make a difference.
